Club Business:
Dues for calendar year 2018 are due now. In fact they were due on 1 Jan, so please see Mike Dyer or any officer at your next meeting to get caught up. Thank you for your support!

Don Boltz has volunteered to plan a drive to Asheville and New Belguim Brewery in April in place of the dinner meeting (that won’t happen because of Masters). With an overnight on your own, if you choose. The brewery tour is a 90 min tour, tasting is free but requires a reservation. They open for tours at 11:30 Mon-Sat. He is thinking of leaving Friday, Apr 6th or Saturday, the 7th at 8am in order to arrive in time for the first tour. He’s planned a tentative route through Trenton, Johnston, Saluda, then I-26 to Asheville. It would be approximately a 3 hour drive. In Asheville near the brewery is an Artists Row, & Restaurants, of course the Biltmore House and Winery ($65-$70), the Wildlife Zoo, a Trolley Tour thru downtown Asheville, and the Blueridge Parkway.  Plenty to do.  If you decide to spend the night, accommodations are pricey in Asheville, but more reasonable outside Asheville.  If you are interested you must let Don & Kay know, so they have a count for the brewery tour.  Thanks Don for planning this!!

David Brock has planned the route for the Road Rally on April 21st.  This time it will be an urban/suburban drive and a slower pace and will take about an hour.  He has created a Facebook event page for this.  Search for Masters Miata.  We will start at Greg’s Gas Plus at SC Exit 1.

Last, Please remember to RSVP to our events – it makes it difficult for the planner if we don’t know how many will show – especially for smaller venues. Your RSVP is greatly appreciated, so please don’t forget.

New Business/Upcoming calendar events:
• Dennis is going to check into a better more professional looking name tag, worthy of our club, and will present his findings to the members for approval.

Meeting Minutes for the December meeting and Christmas Party

When: December 9th, 2017

Where: Brookstone Clubhouse – Christmas Party

Who: Brian and Donna Bogardus, Don and Kay Boltz, John & Teri Bozzarello, Kurt and Karen Breitinger, Mike and Shirley Dyer, Jacques Fournier, Larry and Rita Garner, John and Carol Haff, Thomas and Jennie Hodges, Dennis and Karol Mason, Don and Cheri Nesbitt, Chris and Jackie Rodrigues, Hal and Trudy Scott, Darryl Shipman & Sherry Moore, Kirill and Emille Skilar, Bob & Pat Tarrant, Stacey and Cindy Timmerman, Tom and Susan Varallo, Rudy and Patti Wilmoth, Dave and Sue Woomer, and Victor Yu.

Thanks to Patti for reserving the beautiful clubhouse for tonight’s Christmas party. Many thanks also to Rudy, Patti, & John Haff for setting up the tables, to Rita Garner for picking up the tablecloths, and to Annie Wilms for recommending the caterer. Also, thanks to everyone who helped bring in the food & helped with clean-up afterwards!! Lastly, thanks to the club for footing the bill!

The food was really wonderful and I believe everyone enjoyed the fellowship. As usual the White Elephant was a hit, with all the fun and unusual gifts.

• A vote was taken for club officers and with a vote of 17 of 21 memberships present, voting in favor, the current club officers were voted in for another year. Two memberships abstained since they were officers.
• Next, a vote was taken to waive the requirement for two signatures on checks and contracts for the next fiscal year only. Per the bylaws, this may be waived, but must be voted on annually. 14 of 21 memberships present voted in favor of waiving the requirement.
• A vote was taken to waive the requirement that no two officers serving simultaneously can be from the same household. 18 memberships of 21 present voted in favor of allowing two officers from the same household to serve at the same time.
• Then Jennie Hodges made a motion to change the Bylaw that prevents two members of the same household from holding office simultaneously, it was seconded by Dennis Mason. Since this is a Bylaw change it must be announced to the entire membership before voting. It will be announced and voting will take place in January.
• Bob Tarrant made a motion to keep a minimum $600 in the club bank account. It was seconded by Daryl Shipman. A vote was taken and passed in favor of keeping a minimum balance of $600 in the club account by 19 memberships of 21 present.
• Then Bob Tarrant made a motion to add a Bylaw that would require a minimum balance of $600 be kept in the club checking account, with the ability of a quorum of memberships to vote on allowing the balance to go below $600. It was seconded by Dennis Mason. Since this is also a Bylaw change, it will also have to be announced to the entire membership, and will be voted on in January.

Treasurer’s Report: Started at $1486.87, added $50 in dues payments and paid out $111.05 for the annual cost of the club website. Balance = $1425.82.

Ongoing:
• See Larry or Tom for “Noticed your Miata” cards; to give to people who own Miata’s that may be interested in joining.
• See Dennis for name-tags……
• Club merchandise available: Pins are $3 each; “Support Vehicle” car magnets $25 per pair, canvas tote/shopping bag $20 each. The 3” window stickers are available; these are the ones that go on the outside. The cling ones for the inside of the glass are also newly available.
Coffee mugs and other items are available from http://www.cafepress.com/masters_miata
Communigraphics in North Augusta has our logo, for $8 you can have it embroidered on just about anything.

Club Business:
• The January dinner meeting will be a planning meeting for next year’s events – so get those ideas together for what you would like to do!! And please show up, because we would like your input, but we also need your help – it’s always nice to have new ideas, and we would love to add a few more organizers. It really doesn’t take much time to plan a dinner meeting or club breakfast. And we appreciate everyone who takes the time to do it!
• Also, planning has not yet begun for the Clubs 25th Anniversary Celebration, scheduled for February 3rd, but now that the Christmas party is over – let the planning begin!

2 November Meeting Minutes

When: November 2nd, 2017

Where: Red Bowl, Aiken

Who: Brian and Donna Bogardus, Mike and Shirley Dyer, Larry and Rita Garner, Dennis and Karol Mason, Don and Cheri Nesbitt, Hal and Trudy Scott, Darryl Shipman & Sherry Moore, Bob Tarrant, Tom and Susan Varallo, Richard and Evelyn Whitehurst, Ralf and Annie Wilms, and Dave and Sue Woomer and their daughter Laurie.

Thanks to Dave and Sue Woomer for planning tonight’s dinner location. Red Bowl has a nice separate room so we don’t disturb the other diners. Dinner was good but they really could have used another server. It was nice to be back in Aiken.

We also had some visitors in attendance; Leanne Shealy and Don Prince – Welcome!  We hope you join our little car club!

• A vote was taken as to whether everyone would prefer catered or potluck style dinner for the Christmas Party and catering won with a vote of 8 of 12 memberships voting in favor. Then Ralf Wilms asked why the club couldn’t pay for the whole thing? He asked “what are we saving the money for”? So, he made a motion for the club to pay for the whole amount for catering (instead of the $200 towards meats as voted previously). Motion carried by a vote of 7 of 12 memberships for the club to pay the $450.00 for catering the meal.
• Officer nominations closed at this meeting, and no other nominations have been submitted, so the same officers are up for re-election (unless there is a write in).

Treasurer’s Report: Started at $1476.87, added $10 in dues payments from our new member Cory Peterson. Balance = $1486.87.

Ongoing:
• See Larry or Tom for “Noticed your Miata” cards; to give to people who own Miata’s that may be interested in joining.

Club Business:
• We added one new member – Cory Peterson, welcome to the club Cory! Please visit the website for exciting new events. 😉
• Rudy and Patty have reserved the Clubhouse at Brookstone (1250 Brookstone Way) for the Christmas Party on December 9th. The plan has changed slightly; a traditional Christmas dinner will be delivered by Ryan’s Catering and the whole dinner will be paid for by the club. A buffet style dinner is planned; Ham, Turkey, Mashed Potatoes and Stuffing with Gravy, Green Beans, Garden Salad, Rolls, Tea & Bottled Water, with Pound Cake and Banana Pudding for dessert. No need to bring food, just ‘Bring Your Own’ for alcohol. It looks like we are expecting about 40 people. And we plan to start the party about 5:00pm because the gates close (gated community) at 6pm. So we hope most will arrive before then. Of course, after that we can get the gate opened for you. No dress code, so come enjoy yourselves.
• Don’t forget to bring your ‘White Elephant’ gift for the gift exchange! (no more than $15 per gift, and each person that wants to participate should bring a gift). Also, voting for Club Officers will take place at the Christmas party too.
