June Meeting Minutes

When: June 7th, 2018

Where: Metro Diner, Washington Rd., Augusta

Who: Brian and Donna Bogardus, Don and Kay Boltz, David and Ellie Brock, Mike and Shirley Dyer, Dennis and Karol Mason, Ralf Wilms, Dan Prince and Leanne Shealy, and new members Mathew and Debbie Wojtkowicz (I hope I spelled that correctly – my apologies if I did not), and Ralf Wilms invited Brenda Hays. Welcome to our new members, and Brenda!

Thanks to Dennis for making arrangements for tonight’s meeting. The food was good and service good too. We hadn’t been here before and were pleasantly surprised. Be aware if you decide to eat here, they close at 8pm. It was open and a bit loud, so rather than contributing to the noise level we decided to have a short meeting outside – and the evening was nice for it.

Treasurer’s Report: The club account started at $1159.80, added $20.00 in dues, and $30 from pin sales, and paid out $48.85 to the Brocks for the Road Rally prize, which makes a balance of $1160.97.
Ongoing:
• Tom and Larry have business cards with the club website to handout to prospective Miata owners that may be interested in joining our club.
• See Dennis for name tags…
• New club merchandise is available: Pins are $3 each; “Support Vehicle” car magnets are $25 per pair, canvas tote/shopping bag $20 each. The 3” window stickers have come in and are available now.
Coffee mugs and other items are available from http://www.cafepress.com/masters_miata
Communigraphics in North Augusta has our logo, for $8 you can have it embroidered on just about anything.

Club Business:
• Tom was at “Zoomin in the Mountains of East Tennessee” so Dennis took the meeting.
• We discussed upcoming events: Stacey Timmerman wasn’t present but we reminded all who
plan to attend the Trenton Peach Parade, we will meet at the Airport Grill (1301 Bettis Academy Rd in Trenton), for breakfast at 8am. If you don’t plan for breakfast then meet us there ready to roll at 9am.
• If you haven’t paid your dues for the year, please see Mike Dyer or any officer at your next
meeting to get caught up. Thank you for your support!
• Last, Please remember to RSVP to our events – it makes it difficult for the planner if we don’t
know how many will show – especially for smaller venues. Your RSVP is greatly appreciated, so please don’t forget.

Thanks to Dennis for making arrangements for tonight’s meeting! Mi Rancho is always nice for a before ‘Cinco de Mayo’ celebration. We had a very good server (Ben), and Dennis brought cake for Karol’s birthday.

Treasurer’s Report: The club account started at $1149.80, added $10.00 in dues, makes a balance of $1159.80.

Ongoing:
• Tom and Larry have business cards with the club website to handout to prospective Miata owners that may be interested in joining our club.

Communigraphics in North Augusta has our logo, for $8 you can have it embroidered on just about anything.

Club Business:
• Welcome to new members Gary Lynn and Jeff Kelly! They joined us for the Road Rally, as
well as the Dinner meeting at Mi Rancho. Glad you came to both. 😉
• Even though there wasn’t enough interest for the drive to Asheville, thanks to Don Boltz for
planning it in April. Hopefully, we’ll get a little more interest later in the year.
• Thanks to David and Ellie Brock for the planning and executing the “I Feel Good!” Road Rally
on April 21st. Dennis and Karol remembered dead end roads don’t count, and this year won the event by a nose. Even though Jeff and Gary had less mileage, they missed a picture, and Brian and Donna, and Hal and Trudy had just a bit more mileage but we were all pretty close on mileage. Don and Kay, we missed you at the Snowcap.
• On that same note, since David and Ellie had come out of pocket for the nicely etched
stemless wineglasses as a prize for the winners, Dennis made a motion to have the club reimburse them. It was seconded, and all present in favor, so our Treasurer wrote a check to them.
• If you haven’t paid your dues for the year, please see Mike Dyer or any officer at your next
meeting to get caught up. Thank you for your support!
• Last, Please remember to RSVP to our events – it makes it difficult for the planner if we don’t

Club Business:
Dues for calendar year 2018 are due now. In fact they were due on 1 Jan, so please see Mike Dyer or any officer at your next meeting to get caught up. Thank you for your support!

Don Boltz has volunteered to plan a drive to Asheville and New Belguim Brewery in April in place of the dinner meeting (that won’t happen because of Masters). With an overnight on your own, if you choose. The brewery tour is a 90 min tour, tasting is free but requires a reservation. They open for tours at 11:30 Mon-Sat. He is thinking of leaving Friday, Apr 6th or Saturday, the 7th at 8am in order to arrive in time for the first tour. He’s planned a tentative route through Trenton, Johnston, Saluda, then I-26 to Asheville. It would be approximately a 3 hour drive. In Asheville near the brewery is an Artists Row, & Restaurants, of course the Biltmore House and Winery ($65-$70), the Wildlife Zoo, a Trolley Tour thru downtown Asheville, and the Blueridge Parkway.  Plenty to do.  If you decide to spend the night, accommodations are pricey in Asheville, but more reasonable outside Asheville.  If you are interested you must let Don & Kay know, so they have a count for the brewery tour.  Thanks Don for planning this!!

David Brock has planned the route for the Road Rally on April 21st.  This time it will be an urban/suburban drive and a slower pace and will take about an hour.  He has created a Facebook event page for this.  Search for Masters Miata.  We will start at Greg’s Gas Plus at SC Exit 1.

Last, Please remember to RSVP to our events – it makes it difficult for the planner if we don’t know how many will show – especially for smaller venues. Your RSVP is greatly appreciated, so please don’t forget.
