• Voting is complete on rewriting the by-laws, the proposals were unanimously passed(with 16 votes):
1. Delete Article VI, Item C – “C. Only one individual of a multi-person membership shall hold an elected office during any term, unless approved by the general membership on a case-by-case basis.
2. ADD The following 2 Items to Article IX, Dues and Expenditures:
a) – Item D: “The Officers shall conduct the Club’s business such that the Club’s Checking
Account balance shall not drop below $600.”
b) – Item E: “The minimum account balance requirement of Item D may be waived, on a
case by case basis, by a quorum vote of the general membership.”
****As a note, Mike Dyer says the current bank requires a minimum balance of $300 to avoid charges, and Brian Bogardus says the current charge for the website is $100 per year.*****

• Don Boltz has volunteered to plan a drive to Asheville and New Belguim Brewery in April in place of the dinner meeting (that won’t happen because of Masters). Possibly overnight (or on your own). More to come as we get closer to April. Thanks Don!!
• Last, Please remember to RSVP to our events – it makes it difficult for the planner if we don’t know how many will show – especially for smaller venues. Your RSVP is greatly appreciated, so please don’t forget.

New Business/Upcoming calendar events:
• Dennis is going to check into a better more professional looking name tag, worthy of our club, and will present his findings to the members for approval.

25th Anniversary Dinner

Hello All!

At the last planning meeting it was decided that the 25th Anniversary Dinner would be held on Thursday 1 February – So I have scheduled it to be held at Rae’s Coastal Cafe.  I’m sorry it took me so long to let everyone know.  I have been looking for a private room.  As it turns out not very many places have one, in a restaurant that is reasonably priced.

As it turns out we don’t have a private room but we have a separate area (that is not closed off).  Rae’s Coastal Cafe is located at 3208 W. Wimbledon Dr. in Augusta.  It’s off Walton Way and is located in a Condominium Complex – So don’t think you’re lost when you find yourself in a condominium parking lot – keep on.

It’s a little gem of a place that has a good variety of food (with a Caribbean flair) with some higher end dishes and some a little more affordable but all are very good!

They will prepare some larger tables for us, we can select anything on the menu, we can be individually billed and there is no automatic gratuity – so tip your waiters well if they provide good service.  😉

Go here to see the menu  http://www.raescoastalcafe.com

Last, I’ve reserved for 30 people – but if we aren’t going to have that many present (I realize it is Thursday night), PLEASE RSVP by Tuesday (Jan 30th), at 5:00 so I can give the manager a closer count – so he doesn’t have to have more servers on staff that night if it’s not necessary.

Please RSVP to my personal phone – you can call or text at 706-631-0532.

Thanks so much and hope to see you there!!     Karol

Try again, Fling Miata Yuletide Greeting

Too busy to get this done before Christmas. But sometimes “better late then never” is a good thing.

A Christmas Card.

Meeting Minutes for the December meeting and Christmas Party

When: December 9th, 2017

Where: Brookstone Clubhouse – Christmas Party

Who: Brian and Donna Bogardus, Don and Kay Boltz, John & Teri Bozzarello, Kurt and Karen Breitinger, Mike and Shirley Dyer, Jacques Fournier, Larry and Rita Garner, John and Carol Haff, Thomas and Jennie Hodges, Dennis and Karol Mason, Don and Cheri Nesbitt, Chris and Jackie Rodrigues, Hal and Trudy Scott, Darryl Shipman & Sherry Moore, Kirill and Emille Skilar, Bob & Pat Tarrant, Stacey and Cindy Timmerman, Tom and Susan Varallo, Rudy and Patti Wilmoth, Dave and Sue Woomer, and Victor Yu.

Thanks to Patti for reserving the beautiful clubhouse for tonight’s Christmas party. Many thanks also to Rudy, Patti, & John Haff for setting up the tables, to Rita Garner for picking up the tablecloths, and to Annie Wilms for recommending the caterer. Also, thanks to everyone who helped bring in the food & helped with clean-up afterwards!! Lastly, thanks to the club for footing the bill!

The food was really wonderful and I believe everyone enjoyed the fellowship. As usual the White Elephant was a hit, with all the fun and unusual gifts.

• A vote was taken for club officers and with a vote of 17 of 21 memberships present, voting in favor, the current club officers were voted in for another year. Two memberships abstained since they were officers.
• Next, a vote was taken to waive the requirement for two signatures on checks and contracts for the next fiscal year only. Per the bylaws, this may be waived, but must be voted on annually. 14 of 21 memberships present voted in favor of waiving the requirement.
• A vote was taken to waive the requirement that no two officers serving simultaneously can be from the same household. 18 memberships of 21 present voted in favor of allowing two officers from the same household to serve at the same time.
• Then Jennie Hodges made a motion to change the Bylaw that prevents two members of the same household from holding office simultaneously, it was seconded by Dennis Mason. Since this is a Bylaw change it must be announced to the entire membership before voting. It will be announced and voting will take place in January.
• Bob Tarrant made a motion to keep a minimum $600 in the club bank account. It was seconded by Daryl Shipman. A vote was taken and passed in favor of keeping a minimum balance of $600 in the club account by 19 memberships of 21 present.
• Then Bob Tarrant made a motion to add a Bylaw that would require a minimum balance of $600 be kept in the club checking account, with the ability of a quorum of memberships to vote on allowing the balance to go below $600. It was seconded by Dennis Mason. Since this is also a Bylaw change, it will also have to be announced to the entire membership, and will be voted on in January.

Treasurer’s Report: Started at $1486.87, added $50 in dues payments and paid out $111.05 for the annual cost of the club website. Balance = $1425.82.

Ongoing:
• See Larry or Tom for “Noticed your Miata” cards; to give to people who own Miata’s that may be interested in joining.
• See Dennis for name-tags……
• Club merchandise available: Pins are $3 each; “Support Vehicle” car magnets $25 per pair, canvas tote/shopping bag $20 each. The 3” window stickers are available; these are the ones that go on the outside. The cling ones for the inside of the glass are also newly available.
Coffee mugs and other items are available from http://www.cafepress.com/masters_miata
Communigraphics in North Augusta has our logo, for $8 you can have it embroidered on just about anything.

Club Business:
• The January dinner meeting will be a planning meeting for next year’s events – so get those ideas together for what you would like to do!! And please show up, because we would like your input, but we also need your help – it’s always nice to have new ideas, and we would love to add a few more organizers. It really doesn’t take much time to plan a dinner meeting or club breakfast. And we appreciate everyone who takes the time to do it!
• Also, planning has not yet begun for the Clubs 25th Anniversary Celebration, scheduled for February 3rd, but now that the Christmas party is over – let the planning begin!

October Meeting Minutes

When: October 5th, 2017

Who: Brian and Donna Bogardus, Don and Kay Boltz, Mike and Shirley Dyer, Larry and Rita Garner, Dennis and Karol Mason, Bob and Pat Tarrant, Tom Varallo, Ralf and Annie Wilms, Rudy and Patti Wilmoth, and Dave and Sue Woomer.

Thanks to Bob and Pat Tarrant for planning tonight’s dinner location. Old McDonalds had a nice big semi-separate room we used, the food was very good, served quickly, and the service was very good as well. It’s an Augusta tradition for fish, shellfish and the unusual (such as Gator)…….

Club Business:
• We added one new member – Beatriz Rodriguez, welcome to the club Beatriz! Please visit the website for exciting new events. 😉
• Rudy and Patty have reserved the Clubhouse at Brookstone (1250 Brookstone Way) for the Christmas Party on December 9th. The Rental charge is $50 and as mentioned above: meat (Ham & Turkey) will be purchased by the club. A pot luck style dinner is planned. Karol circulated sign-up sheets for other dishes. We think ‘Bring Your Own’ (for alcohol) is the best way to go. Looks like we are expecting about 40 people. And we plan to start the party about 5:00pm because the gates close (gated community) at 6pm. So most will arrive before then. Of course after that we can get the gate open for you. More planning to come…..
• Also, planning has not yet begun for the Club 25th Anniversary Celebration scheduled for February 3rd but a few ideas have begun percolating.
• We will be doing a planning dinner soon for next year’s events – so get those ideas together for what you would like to do!!
