SCCA Autocross this Saturday at Darlington. I don’t think I have the ambition to try to get there this time but it is something I’ve always wanted to try.

2018 Points Event #6

2018 Christmas Party

This year’s Christmas Party will be held at the same location as last year, the Brookstone Clubhouse, 1250 Brookstone Way, Augusta (map), beginning at 5:00 PM on December 15th.

We will be enjoying the same great food from Ryan’s Catering as we had last year. The buffet dinner will include Ham, Turkey, Mashed Potatoes and Stuffing with Gravy, Green Beans, Garden Salad, Rolls, Tea & Bottled Water, with Pound Cake and Banana Pudding for dessert. No need to bring any food, just ‘Bring Your Own’ alcohol.

The cost for this year’s event is $10 per person, payable to Karol Mason before December 8th, 2018.

Please also remember:

1) The Brookstone neighborhood’s gates close at 6:00 PM, so plan to arrive before that time.

2) Bring your ‘White Elephant” gift for the gift exchange! (no more than $15 per gift). Each person that wants to participate should bring a gift.

3) Voting for Club Officers for 2019 will be completed at this meeting – A list of Nominees will be provided during the November meeting, and voting will begin by email (and snail mail) at the close of the November meeting.

4) Get your reservation and check to Karol Mason before December 8th.

Thanks to Patti and Karol for setting up this event once again!

Hope to see you all on December 15th !

Aiken Fall Steeplechase

Tom Varallo has offered the Club the use of his rail side spot for this year’s Aiken Fall Steeplechase. He wants you to go and have a good time, so, if you have no other plans for Saturday, October 27th, you would be quite literally foolish not to take advantage of this offer.

Space #262 is on the Outside Rail (see map) and will accommodate only one vehicle and canopy that will be taken up by the Mason’s pick-up truck and awning. We’ll have a big cooler filled with ice and grill and such, so just bring your fabulous selves and something to cook or nosh on during the day, plus whatever you would like to drink.

You can park for free in the Bogardus’s driveway (or on the street in front of the house) at 778 Boardman Rd. It is an easy mile from there to the event or you can ride in the back of the pickup like a day laborer if you get to the house before 8:30 AM.

Club Business:

  • September 15th Tom has planned a drive with the Corvette club to Callaway Plantation, we will meet at Steak & Shake on I-20 and plan to leave at 0845 so we can meet up with the corvette club at the designated time.  Tom needs a head count by Tuesday the 11th because we are getting a special rate to get into the plantation.  So please email or call him right away if you want to go!
  • Next month’s meeting will be at Old McDonald Fish Camp (October 4th).
  • Don’t forget the Steeplechase is October 27th for those that want to attend please see Tom.  Dennis & Karol and Brian & Donna will be there with canopy, we can coordinate at next meeting for food, drinks etc.
  • Tale of the Dragon run on 2-4 November – Gonna be a beautiful time to catch some fall colors too!
  • Our Christmas Party will be on December 15th this year at the same location (thank you Patty!), Brookstone Clubhouse (1250 Brookstone Way, Augusta).  We will be having the same caterer and same meal but this year there will be a $10 charge per person.  This will keep the club funds in good shape, and it’s a pretty good price for an evening of fun and fellowship. We need to collect the money in advance so we can have a check ready for our caterer.
  • If you haven’t paid your dues for the year, please see Mike Dyer or any officer at your next meeting to get caught up. Thank you for your support!
  • Please remember to RSVP to our events – it makes it difficult for the planner if we don’t know how many will show – especially for smaller venues.  Your RSVP is greatly appreciated, so please don’t forget.
