Thanks to Patti for reserving the beautiful clubhouse for tonight’s Christmas party. Many thanks also to Rudy, Patti, & John Haff for setting up the tables, to Rita Garner for picking up the tablecloths, and to Annie Wilms for recommending the caterer. Also, thanks to everyone who helped bring in the food & helped with clean-up afterwards!! Lastly, thanks to the club for footing the bill!

The food was really wonderful and I believe everyone enjoyed the fellowship. As usual the White Elephant was a hit, with all the fun and unusual gifts.

• A vote was taken for club officers and with a vote of 17 of 21 memberships present, voting in favor, the current club officers were voted in for another year. Two memberships abstained since they were officers.
• Next, a vote was taken to waive the requirement for two signatures on checks and contracts for the next fiscal year only. Per the bylaws, this may be waived, but must be voted on annually. 14 of 21 memberships present voted in favor of waiving the requirement.
• A vote was taken to waive the requirement that no two officers serving simultaneously can be from the same household. 18 memberships of 21 present voted in favor of allowing two officers from the same household to serve at the same time.
• Then Jennie Hodges made a motion to change the Bylaw that prevents two members of the same household from holding office simultaneously, it was seconded by Dennis Mason. Since this is a Bylaw change it must be announced to the entire membership before voting. It will be announced and voting will take place in January.
• Bob Tarrant made a motion to keep a minimum $600 in the club bank account. It was seconded by Daryl Shipman. A vote was taken and passed in favor of keeping a minimum balance of $600 in the club account by 19 memberships of 21 present.
• Then Bob Tarrant made a motion to add a Bylaw that would require a minimum balance of $600 be kept in the club checking account, with the ability of a quorum of memberships to vote on allowing the balance to go below $600. It was seconded by Dennis Mason. Since this is also a Bylaw change, it will also have to be announced to the entire membership, and will be voted on in January.

Treasurer’s Report: Started at $1486.87, added $50 in dues payments and paid out $111.05 for the annual cost of the club website. Balance = $1425.82.

Club Business:
• The January dinner meeting will be a planning meeting for next year’s events – so get those ideas together for what you would like to do!! And please show up, because we would like your input, but we also need your help – it’s always nice to have new ideas, and we would love to add a few more organizers. It really doesn’t take much time to plan a dinner meeting or club breakfast. And we appreciate everyone who takes the time to do it!
• Also, planning has not yet begun for the Clubs 25th Anniversary Celebration, scheduled for February 3rd, but now that the Christmas party is over – let the planning begin!

Tired of videos of exotic and near-exotic cars with owners in love with their machines? Well here is the antithesis of all that, a Ford Escort that is just a tool to it’s driver and a very sharp tool at that. Ken Block takes his gymkhana madness to France and a race track built 93 years ago that has 51 degree banking.

Not So Secret Santa

I have a couple items that I’m giving away this Christmas to some lucky Club member(s).

First up is a Beatrush Aluminum Undertray. Brand new this thing would set you back $280 with shipping, but this used one is yours FREE, all you have to do is be the first one in the comments to say, “This thing is at the top of my list to Santa.” I’ve got the mounting hardware and the cryptic Japanese installation instructions. Fits any NA or NB Miata.
Second is very slick looking black license plate frame. We bought this to put on our Mini, but because of the design that eliminates the tabs for the screws, it is a little thicker and blocks access to the hatch release button. Free to the first person in the comments who says, “I didn’t do it, it’s a frame up.”Fits any car except apparently a Mini.

If I get any takers I will bring them to the Club Christmas Party. If you aren’t attending, local pickup can be arranged.

The Multi-Tool Supercar

In this week’s film, we sit shotgun with Sean Lee for a drive around Los Angeles and its famed canyon roads in his first-generation 1991 Acura NSX.
