October 6th Meeting Minutes

Where: Pablo’s Mexican Restaurant, North Augusta

Who: Brian and Donna Bogardus, John and Teri Bozzarello, Mike and Shirley Dyer, Larry and Rita Garner, Dennis and Karol Mason, Don and Cheri Nesbitt, Daryl Shipman & Sherry Moore, Bob and Pat Tarrant (and their two grandsons), Tom Varallo, Ralf and Annie Wilms and Dave and Sue Woomer.

We shared the main room with other diners and it got pretty noisy. The restaurant was pretty busy with all the folks trying to evade hurricane Matthew. So we ordered our food and then went outside for a quick meeting. The food was good and service was too. Thanks to Bob and Pat Tarrant for planning this dinner.

Treasurer’s Report: Started at $1696.63, with $40.00 in income from dues payments and $44.84 in bank charges (over several months) for expenditures, the balance comes to $1691.79.

• Tom has some business cards with the club website; to give to people who own Miata’s that may be interested in joining. See Tom if you would like some.

• New club merchandise is available: Pins are $3 each; “Support Vehicle” car magnets $25 per pair, canvas tote/shopping bag $20 each. The 3” window stickers have come in and are available now.

Club Business:
• Dues for calendar year 2017 will be due on 1 Jan. Please make your payment by then. There is no penalty for pre-payment. Thank you for your support!
• It has been proposed that the club kick in $10.00 per person towards to cost of the Christmas party. So a vote of members is being taken via e-mail as to if you are in favor, or opposed to the club kicking in $10.00 per person. An ‘in person’ vote was taken at this meeting but everyone will have a chance to vote via e-mail if you haven’t voted already. Please only one vote per membership. For everyone (listed above) who attended this meeting – your vote has already been recorded please don’t vote again. Thank you!

New Business/Upcoming calendar events:
• Deals Gap weekend/drive is ON! Tail of the Dragon and Cherohala Skyway, are nearby and part of the plan. Please plan on coming along 4-6 November, you won’t regret it. See the Calendar for details.
• We are planning on doing Parade Laps at Road Atlanta 3-4 December, and maybe at Roebling Roads Jan-Feb.
• 2016 Christmas Party set for Friday, Dec 9th at Woodside Plantation Clubhouse. Thanks to Shirley Dyer for doing the planning and John and Kathy Ormerod for getting us in. ? This party will be here before we know it, so please put it on your calendars. There will be a buffet dinner with Pan Seared Sirloin, Salmon, Chicken Marsala, potatoes, Salad, Rolls, and desserts of Cheesecake and Red Velvet cake and a cash bar. The room charge and the charge for setting up the bar has been waived since John and Kathy are members. Still the cost is $42.00 per person.
• Tom is working with Don Boltz and Brian Borgardus to update the club by-laws.
• Officer elections will take place at the Christmas party; candidates will be proposed/nominated at the November meeting.
• Wanna Go Fast was a very cool weekend! Mustangs, Corvettes, Vipers, Dodge Hellcats, Lamborghinis, even a Bugatti. But the stars of the show were the many Nissan GTR’s and a couple of suped up Honda Civics.
