July Meeting Minutes

Sorry for the lateness; there wasn’t anyone there to take minutes, so I put it together from memory. Hope I didn’t leave anything out. LG

When: July 2, 2015
Where: Carolina Ale House
Who: John and Pat Clark, Mike and Shirley Dyer, Alan and Jill Johnson, Larry Garner, John and Jackie Nicholls, John and Kathy Ormerod and Rudy and Patty Wilmoth.
Treasurer’s Report: Started at $1531.47
New Business:
*Thanks to Mike and Shirley Dyer for coordinating dinner. The weather was bad enough all drove OTM’s. The eating area was too noisy for a meeting so Mike (as asked by Tom) directed the group to another area for a short meeting. Larry gave a short summery of Zoomin in the Mountains of East Tennessee, that he, Rita and Tom attended in early June. Most impressed with the Police escort thru traffic lights, etc… and the 277 Miata’s attending.
*Dues are due. $10 a year for family; can’t beat it…

New Officers are:
• President – (new) Tom Varallo
• Vice President – (incumbent) Dennis Mason
• Secretary – (incumbent) Karol Mason
• Treasurer – (incumbent) John Nicholls
• Web Master – (incumbent) Brian Bogardus

The following events have been planned or anticipated:
* Cars & Coffee every first Saturday in West Town in front of Carolina Pottery on Washington Rd. from 8-11 am. Never know what might be there.
*July 18th – Breakfast is planned at Peaches and Such in Moneta; more information on the website.
*July 18th – 2nd Annual Cruise-In on the town square in Edgefield, SC, 4pm to 7pm.
* At this time, no other breakfasts or dinners are on the schedule.
* Kurt Breitinger is going to look into a Brewery Tour at the Terrapin in Athens for sometime in July, so watch your email or check the web-site.
If you have a good idea for a drive or place to eat, please suggest it or work a plan so we can put it on the calendar. It doesn’t have to be fancy.

Did It Happen?

Can there be things that exist that are not in time?

Does the physical universe depend upon the existence of an immaterial creator?

If 5 Miatas with 9 souls aboard drove from North Augusta to the outskirts of Monetta and had breakfast together in a really small eatery and no one wrote about it on the Club’s web site, did it happen?

Wow, metaphysical questions Brian, can you answer them?

You’re traveling through another dimension, a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind. A journey into a wondrous land whose boundaries are that of imagination. That’s the signpost up ahead – your next stop, the Miata Zone!

Date: Saturday, July 18, 2015
Time: 7:30 AM
Place: Greg’s Gas Plus
Attending: Brian & Donna Bogardus, Larry & Rita Garner, John & Pat Clark, Trudy & Hal Scott and Tom Varallo.

Two expected, one unexpected and one almost late car joined the lead vehicle on an adventurous journey that included dogs dining on McDonalds in the road, peach picking migrant workers standing on the side of the road, an oncoming car in awe of mingling migrants and Miatas drifting momentarily into our lane of the road and a slow moving farm tractor for the last mile of road or so.

When we got inside the restaurant it was clear that breakfast would be leisurely. The dining area was busy, 5 or so dining and three people leaving had the one server and one cook hopping. Our group was in no hurry, so this really wasn’t an issue. Turns out this was the first day of new ownership and I’m betting they were happy to see the crowd, but I’m hoping they didn’t think we were regulars. And even if they were closer to us, there was nothing special here to keep us coming back. Still worth one trip for sure though.

3 Commas

“I was the king. Now look at me. 2 commas. I had to sell my McLaren.”

“But there’s a Maserati in the driveway…”

“Who cares, it has doors that go like
THIS >__< not like THIS ^—^!!!”

Buy One!

Took me awhile to get why it is called 3 Commas…1 Billion = 1,000,000,000
