Moss Motoring Challenge

A couple of weeks ago there was an email that went around the Club about a sale Moss Motors was having. I didn’t buy anything because of it, but it did lead me to Moss’s web site where I noticed a link to something called Motoring Challenge 2014. They did this last year for their British car customers and for 2014 they decided to open it up to their Miata customers too.

The idea is to take a picture of you with your car and the front page of the flyer at various locales, earning a point or two for each “challenge” completed. The top prize is a $1,000 Moss Gift Certificate. Second place is $500 and third is $250, the next 50 runners-up get a $50 GC with everyone getting a T-shirt and a decal. 15 points will get you the T-shirt and a decal, while a mere one point will get you just the decal.

Challenges include every state and every Canadian province. A city, town, village, etc. beginning with every letter of the alphabet and the same A-Z requirement for counties, parishes or districts. Then there also about 40 other specific requests from an Airport (show airplane) & a Barn (w/car inside) to a Vineyard/Winery & a Zoo.

Those of you who are familiar with Donna and I will know that something like this is right up our alley, with our geocaching adventures and having traveled over nearly every inch of South Carolina taking a picture of the Miata in front of all 465 Post Offices in the state. So, if this sounds mildly amusing to anyone else in the Club, drop us a line and if we get a couple more cars interested we might design a Club event to do some of these challenges as a group.

Check out the Challenge web page then if interested, leave a comment here or drop us an email.

February Breakfast Lunch

Meet at 10:00 AM at the Greg’s Gas Plus at 1295 W Martintown Rd, North Augusta, SC (just north of I-20 off Exit 1) – map

Because February can be cold we decided to do a lunch instead of a breakfast in the hopes that we might actually get some top down driving in before, or more likely after, eating on this event.

Our destination is Shealy’s Bar-B-Que in Leesville, SC. We have mapped out a convoluted 50 mile drive to avoid all manner of Interstate and 4 lane highways to get to 340 E Columbia Ave for some good eats from their large and varied buffet. After eating we have a less convoluted 50 mile drive planned back to our starting point.

The Morgan 3 Wheeler Is The Best Horse Ever

Morgan’s 3 Wheeler is more fun than a car really should be in 2013. It’s also more fun than a horse. Bear with us, it’ll all make sense soon.

Are your friends hotheads? Do they often exceed safe internal temps? Is their blood pressure higher than their boost level?
