Miatas at Myrtle Beach

A fun event on the beach that “kicks off” convertible season with their traditional “last weekend of March” dates for 2014. The event raises money for the Children’s Home Society, a non-profit organization that helps children who are in foster care and awaiting permanent adoption.

Until the event web site is active, here is a link to the Miata Forum thread with early details and hotel details: Miatas at Myrtle Beach VIII!!!

If you have any questions about this event ask Larry or Rita Garner, they’ve been the last couple of years and are going again this year too.

Bug Splat

Location: Apizza di Napoli in Aiken – map

Apizza di Napoli is located at 740 Silver Bluff Rd on the south side of Aiken.

After eating we will take an approximately 25 mile drive around some darkening roads hopefully knocking insects out of the night air with the noses of our Miatas. The drive will finish at the Sonic, 1187 Knox Ave, North Augusta, SC and there your Event Coordinator will give away awards in various categories, including: Biggest Bug, Most Bugs, etc.

June Breakfast/Trenton Peach Parade

Where: 8 AM at the Airport Grill, 1301 Bettis Academy Rd., Trenton, SC. Phone number 803–663–7006.

If you can’t make breakfast at The Airport Grill you can meet at the grill @ 9:00 AM. We’ll do a short back roads drive and get to the parade line up at approx 9:40 AM on Wise Street in Trenton.

We will depart the Airport Grill at 9 o’clock for a short drive via some back roads and hopefully drive by some peach orchards on the way to Trenton, South Carolina and the 44th Annual Ridge Peach Festival. We will line up at about 9:40 on Wise Street and the parade will start at 10:30.

There will be food, vendors, crafters, children’s rides and a great parade in which we will drive in. Start practicing those parade waves and bring some candy to throw to the crowd. After the parade we’ll hang around and soak up the atmosphere.

Miata Birthday Bash

Location: Gerald Jones Mazda

With the Miata celebrating a 25th anniversary this year Gerald Jones has asked to host our May17th meeting. We plan to meet at 10:00 AM at the dealership on Gordon Highway (map) to show off our favorite cars, and have preliminary plans for a short presentation on the history of the Miata, discuss the new Sky Active technology, see some pictures of the 2015 Miata, see the newest Miata’s, food, maybe some gifts, and fellowship. In order to help Don Daudelin of Gerald Jones Mazda (Miata owner and a club member) to make plans it would be very helpful if you could let me know your interest in attending and if how many Miata’s you can bring to the party!
