After the “meeting” Rachel was nice enough to draw names and gave away a couple of door prizes. We then semi-reluctantly left the warmth of the Sno-Cap and went outside to fire up the CB radios and go for a drive. There were 12 cars under the awning waiting to participate in Brian’s shortened version of the Augusta Chronicle’s Christmas Light Tour 2001 and in spite of the chilly, upper 30 degree weather about half of the cars had (or put) their tops down for the tour.

Brian and Donna had previewed the route twice earlier and there had been a couple places that weren’t lit up, but they hoped tonight that they might be. They weren’t, but it didn’t detract from the fun, as luck would have it, other houses nearby were very well lit. We were also lucky because for the most part we didn’t lose anybody from the line of cars. There were several times that we were quite stretched out though, especially after a loop through a sub-division off of Fury’s Ferry Road. The last house wasn’t on the Chronicle‘s tour but was added because it was really close to the house of our party’s hosts and it is literally covered in lights that are computer controlled. You have to pause in front for a minute or so to see all the different combinations of chasing lights.
