Photo Scavenger Hunt

Date: Saturday, November 10, 2001
Time: 9:00 AM
Place: Georgia Welcome Center
Members Attending: Barbara Battles, John Battles, Bill Baugh, Bonnie Baugh, Brian Bogardus, Donna Bogardus, Karen Breitinger, Kurt Breitinger, Jim Creer, Carol Haff, John Haff, Andrew Miller, Cathy Miller, Scott Rushton, Marty Rutkowski, Jean Schwalbert, Russ Schwalbert and Rudy Wilmoth.

Brian and Donna split the 8 cars into 4 groups of two by picking colors out of a hat. They then handed each group a disposable camera and a sheet containing 15 objectives for them to photograph and promptly left them to shop for the prizes. Marty showed up just as everyone was leaving and Russ invited him onto his team not realizing at first, the worth of Marty’s passenger.

The objectives were kind of convoluted and Brian thought that some of them would be really hard to accomplish. Ha, never underestimate the ingenuity of a Miata owner. Flying Pigs? Got ‘em. Miatas in water? Check. A mannequin? Easy one. Strangers sitting in your car and you wearing their hat? Piece of cake!

As we dined on delicious Mexican food at Salsa’s, the Eckerds next door was doing the 1-hour thing to the pictures. After eating we adjourned to the porch area in front of the restaurant for the judging. The yellow team submitted a photo for all 15 objectives and had an impressive total, but they finished second to the green team. That fellow riding with Marty, was a co-worker and fellow Miata owner. Objective #3 was to get a picture of a Miata owner in his or her car that is not in the Club. That in itself was only worth 100 points, but if you got them to join 250 bonus points were added on, and if they came to lunch you got 500 more. Scott Rushton was worth 850 points.

A range of picture frames were awarded as prizes to all cars participating.
