Red Leaves Jigsaw Puzzle

November Breakfast Wrap Up

Downtown Aiken is quiet at 7:45 AM on a Saturday morning, but that was about to change, the Master’s Miata Club was coming for breakfast and the sounds of hundreds of buzzing sports cars would soon be bouncing off the empty walls. Well, maybe tens of cars with raspy exhausts. Ok, a few two seaters zipping around. Actually one Miata coasting quietly to a stop in front of the Sugar Magnolia Cafe.

We would have sat outside for breakfast, but there were too many leaves.
After yesterday’s rain there were a lot of leaves on the ground.
Though some colorful leaves were still on the trees…
Obligatory photo of the Club’s Miatas all lined up.

November Meeting Minutes

Where: Rae’s Coastal Cafe in Augusta, GA
When: November 6, 2008
Who: Donna & Brian Bogardus, Kurt Breitinger, Gail & Miller Butler, Larry & Rita Garner, Carol & John Haff, John & Jackie Nicholls, Dave & Autumn Schumacher and Patti & Rudy Wilmoth.

Treasurer’s Report: $1,296.65.

Past Events :

  1. The October breakfast had to be moved across the parking lot to a Sonic when it turned out that Just Fresh doesn’t open until 11 AM on Saturdays.
  2. After breakfast Stacey & Cindy Timmerman lead the three other Miatas to Edgefield where our first stop was a first for our Miata Club, a graveyard. This one was behind the Edgefield First Baptist Church and is the final resting place of perhaps South Carolina’s most famous citizen, Strom Thurmond. From there we visited the Discover Center of the South Carolina National Heritage Corridor which turned out to be a nice little museum and well worth the visit. After there the Club headed over to visit an antebellum home, Oakley Park.
  3. For the Leaf Peeping Rally there were 3 cars worth for breakfast at the Cracker Barrel, but only one car for the actual peeping portion.

Future Events:

  1. November 15th is this month’s breakfast. Meet 8:00 AM at Sugar Magnolia Cafe located in Downtown Aiken a couple doors down from Plum Pudding at 316 Richland Ave W
  2. Club Christmas Party, AKA International Holiday Party, will be on Friday December 12th at the Miller’s. Same format as last year, with a short meeting before hand.
  3. Sunday, December 21st will be the last Club breakfast for the year, the famous Sunday Buffet at the Partridge Inn. Meet at 11:00 AM and the cost is $21.95 $18.95 per person.

Actual Business:

  1. Zippo

The December meeting will be just before the party at the Butlers on December 12th.

2008 Leaf Peeping Run Wrap Up

The Cracker Barrel was packed with people eating breakfast, but only two other couples were members of the Miata Club, seems the rest of them were just there coincidentally. After eating we headed west and north to the upstate of Georgia (with a brief foray into South Carolina) to see the colorful trees. There were hundreds, maybe thousands of us driving the windy back roads enjoying nature’s beauty, but there was just our one car from the Club, seems the rest of them were just there coincidentally.
