Ridge Peach Parade & Festival

Where: Billy’s Super Store intersection of US25 & SC19 in Trenton, SC.

Thousands will congregate in Trenton, SC to celebrate the lovely peach at the Annual Ridge Peach Festival. There will be food, vendors, crafters, children’s rides and a great parade in which we will drive in. Start practicing those parade waves and bring some candy to throw to the crowd. After the parade we’ll hang around and soak up the atmosphere.

Big Mo Drive In

Meeting Place: Sonic, North Augusta, SC – map
Time: 6:00PM at the Sonic located off Exit 5 of I-20, north on US25.

We will leave the Sonic at 6:15, so if you plan to get something to eat, either come early or take it out and eat while we are in Line to get in. The route to the Drive-in is the old, tried and true, back roads drive that we have done before. You can leave the drive-in and go back home by going down Hwy 1 back to I-20 at any time you want. If you stay for both movies, you will get home around 1 or 2 AM, so it will be up to each car and family when you have enough fun for one night. 🙂

The movies at the drive-in are: theater #1; Indiana Jones and Iron Man, which I predict to be the first to fill up. At theater #2; What Happens In Vegas and Made of Honor, which is there for those who can’t get into theater #1 🙂 This why I want to leave early, the drive-in opens at 7PM and the movies start at 8:45 so we will have plenty of time to eat and talk before the movie. Admission is 6 dollars a person, cash only. Bring plenty of bug spray, maybe some chairs as it is cooler outside of the cars (might want to bring a sweater too) and maybe bring an FM radio for the movie sound if you sit outside your car to save the Miata’s battery.

Meeting Place: We’re Working On It – map

May be exactly like last year’s trip or may only be similar in that it involves canoes and Club members.

Fun In Helen

Where: Dahlonega and Helen Georgia

Event Description: Two or three day trip into the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains in two picturesque towns of North Georgia. Drive to Helen on Friday or Saturday and settle in perhaps at some lovely cabins, lodge, or motel. Explore Helen: Lunch, miniature golf, go-carts, get a tattoo, get a start on Christmas shopping, hiking to Ruby Falls. Saturday: Head to Dahlonega for gold museum, shopping, fudge shops, restaurants, antiques, food, beer. Return to home base. Sunday: Brunch at a fine restaurant before heading home.

This event will conform to the EAT / DRIVE / EAT/ DRIVE model we’ve all come to love.

Plans are VERY TENTATIVE. Let us know your preference, and we’ll work something out.

Save the Pigs Party

Where: Place South Carolina State Fairgrounds at Columbia. In order to minimize the drive for our Aiken friends, we’ll meet at the McDonalds parking lot at US 20 exit 22 (highway 1). If we leave at 6:00 we should get there while there’s plenty of food!

Event description: Friday Night’s SAVE THE PIGS party is an anything but pork event! For $8 a ticket or 2 for $15, enjoy music and taste-test samples of numerous Southern specialties prepared by the 40+ cooking teams from across the region. Food samples are served as long as the delicious dishes last and the terrific band, the Sensational Epics, will play from 7-10 p.m. Beer, water and sodas are for sale at the event. Nicholls, Wilmoths, Butlers, and Winkler went to this last year and really enjoyed it.

All the proceeds from the event benefit Carolina Children’s Home and the many children it serves. Originally founded as an orphanage, the Home is one of the state’s largest treatment centers for abused or abandoned young people.

Bring cash and your appetite. John
