Leaf Peeping

Meeting Place: Cracker Barrel, Augusta, GA – map

The Cracker Barrel is located off Exit 194 of I-20. Donna and I will be getting there a little before 7:00 AM to eat breakfast, join us if you want. When we are done we will head north. Back by popular demand is a trip to the place that the first recorded fall leaf fell to the ground in the state of South Carolina — Caesar’s Head State Park.

January Meeting Minutes

Where: Bobby’s BBQ in Graniteville, SC
When: January 3, 2008
Who: Bill & Bonnie Baugh, Donna & Brian Bogardus, Kurt & James Breitinger, Gail & Miller Butler, John & Carol Haff, Jackie & John Nicholls, Dave & Autumn Schumacher and Patti & Rudy Wilmoth.

Treasurer’s Report: $1,660.50 (John Haff kicked in a penny to make it an even fifty.)

Business:

  1. Past events were reviewed:
    1. The December breakfast was attended by a half dozen or so members and it was described as the Quintessential Miata Breakfast Joint.
    2. Everyone who attended thought the International Christmas Party was a great idea.
  2. Future events were previewed:
    1. The Anniversary Dinner is still in the planning stages, i.e. the committee chair didn’t really think too much about it over the holidays.
  3. There was no 50-50 raffle as the Treasurer’s mind was the same place as the Anniversary Chair’s, eggnog induced visions of sugar-plum fairies.

The regular meeting was adjourned and we spent the next couple hours hammering out the event calendar for 2008, the results of which you can find in the sidebar to the left of this post.

Respectfully submitted:

Club Secretary

July Meeting & Fireworks

Meeting Place: Cracker Barrel in Augusta, GA – map

Bring a picnic supper of your choice or there is plenty of food available there as we will drive over to Fort Gordon to hold an outdoor meeting and dinner. Topics discussed will be some old business, some new business, some reports and some other stuff. Then we will hang out for the music and fireworks at dark. Lookie here.

Pool Party

Place: 10 Woodspring Court – map

The Butler’s live at #10, but I had to plug in #60 in Google Maps to get it to line up with their home.

We will have a BBQ lunch brought in and then we will all wait at least an hour before taking a dip in the pool. Please RSVP to the hosts (using the contact info below) by Wednesday, June 6th, so they will know how much food to order. The Club will be buying lunch, so even if you don’t want to swim, come out and eat some of your dues back.

Bug Splat

Place: Zaxby’s, located at 612 Ronald Reagan Dr in Evans, GA, right across the street from the Post Office – map

After eating we will take a drive around the lake and across the dam hopefully knocking insects out of the night air with the noses of our Miatas. At the finish at the Dairy Queen on Washington Rd in Martinez your Event Coordinator will give away awards in various categories, including: Biggest Bug, Most Bugs, etc.
