Gold Rush Days/Octoberfest Trip

Fancy a weekend getaway to the Georgia mountains this fall? The Nicholls and Butlers are planning on an event right up your alley – Gold Rush Days/Octoberfest Trip. Details can be found HERE. Check ’em out and let either couple know if you are planning on attending by the 8th of July.

Membership Drive Incentive

No it doesn’t involve driving, but it does involve an incentive. More members = more fun. The current member who recruits the most new members during the remainder of this year (before midnight 12/31/07) will receive a nice “ZOOM ZOOM” folding lawn chair. Get out, meet some new people, and recruit them! I’ll announce the winner at the Anniversary Dinner. Sincerely, John

Gold Rush Days/Octoberfest Trip

Who: Maybe you

What: Three day trip into the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains for two festivals in two picturesque towns of North Georgia–Dahlonega and Helen, maybe even fall colors.

When: Gold Rush days in Dahlonega are Oct. 20-21 and Oktoberfest in Helen is the month of October. The current thinking is to drive to Helen on Friday, Oct. 19 and settle in perhaps at some lovely cabins with scenic views and amenities (hot tubs, Jacuzzis, pool tables, BBQ’s, fireplaces) Blue Ridge Cabins 2 and 3 bedroom cabins currently available. Find a suite mate or two and split the cost. Explore Helen: Lunch, miniature golf, go-carts, get a tattoo, get a start on Christmas shopping, hiking to Ruby Falls. Saturday: Head to Dahlonega for Gold Rush days. Crafts, parade, music, gold museum, shopping, fudge shops, restaurants, antiques. Return to home base. Sunday: Brunch at a fine restaurant before heading home.
Plans are VERY TENTATIVE, but because of rooms filling fast we need to get an immediate start on planning so check out the websites and let us know by July 8 if you are interested.
Can’t go on Friday? Nightly rates at the hotels are high, but the cabins, when divided are reasonable when split, but require a two night stay. Hookup with someone going on Friday and splitting total two night stay is less expensive than a one night hotel room.

Why: Because we like you!

Trip time to Helen: 160 miles, 3 1/2 hrs.
Trip Time Helen to Dahlonega: 29miles, 42min.

Peach Parade

Where: Billy’s Super Store intersection of US25 & SC19 in Trenton, SC.

Thousands will congregate in Trenton, SC to celebrate the lovely peach at the Annual Ridge Peach Festival. There will food, vendors, crafters, children’s rides and a great parade in which we will drive in. Start practicing those parade waves and bring some candy to throw to the crowd.
